More stoplight, less cowbell

More work has been done on the stoplight, including automating its lighting capabilities and experimenting with ways to maximize the information conveyed with only three lights.  I don’t know that I could say “spending time automating the light” is worse than “spending time flipping the light on and off” as both seem to be an unbelievable diversion.

The official current settings are (as pasted from the email):

  • RED - BAD BUILD, *** ATTENTION REQUIRED ***
  • YELLOW - BUILT OK, has some warnings *** Issue ***
  • GREEN - GOOD BUILD
  • GREEN YELLOW - BUILD IS CURRENTLY RUNNING
  • ALL LIGHTS OFF - the Stoplight is turned off nightly around 5 p.m. to save electricity…

Oh, my.

The reason we have the stoplight is because there are literally hundreds of email messages generated regarding the builds.  Most are useless.  This is intended to … (wait for it) … shed some light on the status.
